Fluid temperature.
‘for life’ lubrication, check and adjust level when spotting oil leaks.
Standard ZF Lifeguard 6.
A gearbox oil change cap.
B oil level and fill-up cap of the gearbox.
Start the engine.
Operate one shift for all gears.
Put the gearshift lever in “P” position.
Leave the engine running at idle speed.
Remove the oil fill-up & level-check cap B.
The oil level is fine when the oil flows drop by drop.
Install the locking screw B with a new gasket.
This operation requires a flat ground to be properly made. The vehicle must be stopped and unable to move.
Do not drain the gearbox oil if it is not warm.
Place the vehicle on a platform.
Switch the engine off.
Put an adequate container under the gearbox.
Clean the surroundings of the refill / level and drainage caps.
Let the oil flow freely.
Clean the refill/level and drainage caps.
Tighten at 4,0 daN.m torque.
Fill-up the gearbox.
The gear box oil level is adequate when reaching and not superseding the lower edge of the filling hole (vehicle lying on flat ground).
Or.
Tighten at 2,0 daN.m torque.
Start the engine.
Put the gearshift lever in “P” position.
Switch on the headlights (in order to increase the revs).
Supplement again the oil level until overflowing.
Lower the vehicle.
